Gripe: Not enough sleep

When I think about how much too little sleep affects my personality and the personality of some family members I have observed, I wonder why we just can’t get it together and sleep more. (No, not sleep together, just all agree to sleep more.)

It also makes me wonder how many people out there are irritable, rude, or easily frustrated not because they are inherently that way, but because they are just flat out tired.

Now that I am retired and kid grown and so on, I am not tired as often, but when I am, I revert back to that grumpy, irritable, whiny, miserable person that I have always been when I am really tired. Everything is too much trouble: Why bother? What for? You do it. At least not being tired as often, people around me can see a difference when they are paying attention. Since I am like that I notice it in others.

So, everyone out there, sleep really does make a difference, I have probably proved it so many times even a scientist could not dis it. Give yourself (and us) a break and treat yourself to a good night’s sleep. You may actually start a new trend, healthy adults, and kids that aren’t driving us crazy. (OK, the latter may be a stretch.)
